What do I mean by Real Digital Marketing?
In my experience, many still use old practices in their digital marketing efforts. I believe that to stay relevant in a world where everything is becoming commoditized marketers should focus on two core things: branding and storytelling. Relevancy, genuine care for the customer, humility, and persistence are other aspects I associate with the tagline Real Digital Marketing.
I will strive to make this a place for people to come and learn this Real Digital Marketing. I do not have a plan to monetize this. At this moment I am focused only on expanding my knowledge and on offering value for the visitors.
Why Digital Marketing?
I always struggled to find something that I like and do that for the rest of my life. I see Digital Marketing as a discipline where you always have to learn new things. It keeps me in touch with something that is both new and progressive.
How did I get into Digital Marketing?
Back in 2014, I was a foreign student in UK studying a Media Production course. Money was scarce and I decided to learn to make money online somehow. I ended up building one-page websites for small niches such as game hacks. The work became repetitive and after three years I needed a change but didn’t know what.
I started to build bigger websites around something that I genuinely like such as films, games, nutrition, or even personal development but they only succeeded in helping me realize I don’t like those things enough to build a long-term business around them.
Time went by, no money in the bank, and no luck getting hired in Media Production in my home country. So I had to come to the UK, still no luck for a decent job, so I got a shitty job and started over. With my first saved money, I paid for a decent online course here at the Digital Marketing Institute in UK.
Time to do something on my own
With that knowledge, I decided to try and do something of my own instead of looking for marketing jobs. Also, I realized that to truly understand what I am learning is by attempting to explain to others what I think I know.
By writing in an educational tone it helps reveals the gaps in my knowledge and also connecting those dots in my broader perception. Writing is just one aspect of learning. Therefore, I am using this to practice digital marketing such as social media marketing, SEO, email marketing, website design, etc.
